MORGANTOWN, W. Va. (KDKA) — It’s 104th and possibly the last Backyard Brawl between Pitt and WVU.

The Mountaineers won the game 21-20. It was played Friday night in Morgantown.

The rivalry between the two teams has always been strong, but the match ups could come to an end because of conference changes.

Pitt is expected to leave the Big East for the ACC, and West Virginia is headed to the Big 12 but it’s not clear when. So this could be the last brawl unless or until non-conference match ups are scheduled.

Most Pitt and WVU fans agree that it’s shame the rivalry could be coming to the end.

“I think it’s sad,” said WVU fan Alan Martin.

However, Pitt Fan Blair Brown said, “I’m not so worried about it. I won’t really miss WVU so much.”
