Police Issue Warrant In Tarentum Shooting

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Allegheny County police have issued a warrant for a Wilkinsburg man following a shooting earlier this week that sent another man to the hospital with critical injuries.

Investigators say they are looking for 28-year-old Joseph Ntoko. Police describe him as six-feet-six-inches tall and about 225 pounds.

He is facing a list of charges including criminal attempt homicide, aggravated assault, robbery and gun-related charges, police say.

The shooting happened just before 8:30 p.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Roup Avenue and Ormand Street. Investigators say neighbors reported hearing as many as four gunshots.

The 23-year-old victim, who has not been identified by authorities, suffered a gunshot wound to the head. He was flown by medical helicopter to a local hospital for treatment. There is no word on his condition.

According to police, the victim and suspect may have been involved "in a possible drug transaction involving a large quantity of marijuana."

Investigators say Ntoko "was seen fleeing the area with a duffle bag containing an unknown amount of marijuana in a newer Blue Chevrolet Impala with Massachusetts license plates."

Police are asking for the public's help in finding Ntoko and the vehicle, but warn that he should be "considered armed and extremely dangerous."

Anyone with information is being asked to contact the Allegheny County Police Department at 412-473-3000.
