1 Arrested In Penn Hills Shooting

PENN HILLS (KDKA) -- A traffic incident apparently led to a shooting in Penn Hills Friday night.

The shooting happened at about 6 p.m. at the intersection of MacFarlane and Veronica Drives.

The two male drivers – ages 18 and 16 – live near the scene and apparently were involved in a traffic incident earlier in the day.

After a verbal confrontation, the 18-year-old allegedly shot the 16-year-old in the chest. The suspect has been identified as 18-year-old Robert Rainey.

According to police, Rainey was arrested Saturday afternoon.

Police were looking for a light-skinned black male driving a grey pickup with an extended cab. A female and two children are believed to be passengers in the truck.

Meanwhile, the 16-year-old is in surgery at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. His injury is not believed to be life-threatening.
