2 Arrested After Police Chase In Ross Township

ROSS TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- A shoplifting call led to a police chase in the North Hills.

Larry Brown and Christian Rash, both 19, were allegedly involved in two thefts at Macy's at Ross Park Mall on Tuesday.

Police say they were driving a stolen vehicle from a carjacking in the city of Pittsburgh last week. When an officer tried to corner the pair at the mall, they sped off and more cruisers joined the chase.

"The car proceeded south on McKnight attempting to elude our officers and we eventually caught up to and were able to take into custody the car and the two gentlemen inside of it on Babcock Boulevard at the McKnight Road exit," Ross Township Police Detective Brian Kohlhepp said.

Brown and Rash were questioned by Ross Township police for several hours before they were taken to the Allegheny County Jail.

Kym Gable: "You want to tell us what happened?"

Christian Rash: "Saved a bunch of money on car insurance by switching to Geico."

Brown and Rash are facing charges of fleeing and eluding police, receiving stolen property, theft and vehicle violations.

An additional charge may be filed against Brown for spitting on a KDKA-TV photographer and camera.
