Police Probe Hempfield Twp. Burglary, Assault
HEMPFIELD TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- Police are investigating a violent burglary and assault in Westmoreland County over the weekend.
According to authorities, someone broke into a home on Wilkey Lane in Hempfield Township early Sunday morning and assaulted a woman who was sleeping on a sofa.
The suspect smashed a wine glass into the woman's face, causing severe cuts.
Police say someone else who was sleeping in the home woke up and started fighting with the suspect. In the process, one of them was stabbed twice in the abdomen.
Police are still sorting through the details, but charges are pending against two people.
