Slippery Rock Twp. Fire Considered Suspicious

SLIPPERY ROCK TOWNSHP (KDKA) -- Authorities in Lawrence County are calling a mobile home fire suspicious.

The fire started in the bedroom of the home in Slippery Rock Township.

"It smoked the whole woods up and I called the fire department," the owner, who lives next door, said. "I just put a new furnace in there, so I don't know what's going on."

The tenants were evicted several months ago for not paying rent, but still had some belongings inside.

The firefighters called in the State police fire marshal from the Butler barracks to investigate.

The furnace and water heater were the only appliances on inside the home.

The owners of the mobile home do not have insurance, so they may have lost a source of income and another place to live.

But they're taking the loss in stride.

"I was thinking maybe someday I'd have to move in there," the owner said. "But that's the way it goes."
