Jerry Sandusky's Wife Addresses Latest Allegations

BELLEFONTE, Pa. (KDKA) -- Jerry Sandusky posted bail a day after being hit with new charges and tonight, his wife is talking about the allegations against her husband for the first time since the scandal broke.

Jerry Sandusky's wife says she stands by her man as he comes home from jail preparing for the next phase of his criminal case.

He had to put up $200,000 in real estate holdings and a $50,000 certified check from his wife to make bail and leave the Centre County Jail. The warden said his overnight stay was typical, but he did so just about 24 hours after having been arrested.

This time, though, Sandusky's under house arrest, subject to electronic monitoring and is to have no contact with alleged victims, witnesses in the upcoming criminal case or unsupervised contact with minors.

He was arrested for a second time Wednesday after two new alleged victims' testimony convinced a grand jury Sandusky should face more charges.

One of them told the grand jury he was forced to stay in a basement bedroom where he cried for help but that Sandusky's wife, Dorothy, remained upstairs and did not help.

Today, Sandusky's wife released a statement taking aim at that claim.

"As the mother of six children, I have been devastated by these accusations. I am also angry about these false accusations that such a terrible incident ever occurred in my home. No child who ever visited our home was ever forced to stay in our basement and fed there …. I continue to believe in Jerry's innocence and all the good things he has done."

Her statement goes on to ask everyone to be reasonable and open minded until both sides of the case are heard.

And that process begins next Tuesday when Sandusky faces a preliminary hearing.
