Woman Reportedly Tied Up, Hit With Hammer In Lawrenceville

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A woman remains in a local hospital today after being injured during a burglary that prompted a SWAT incident Wednesday night in Lawrenceville.

Investigator say the woman returned to her home in the 3400-block of Ligonier Street around 8:30 p.m. and found a burglar inside.

According to authorities, the suspect allegedly tied her up, choked her and hit her in the head with a hammer.

Police say when the burglar went upstairs, the woman was able to untie herself and run to a neighbor's home for help.

Police, the SWAT team and K9 officers surrounded the home, but the suspect was not found.

The woman was taken to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital where at last check she was listed in stable condition.

Police continue to investigate the incident.
