Tractor Trailer Accident Partially Closes Stretch Of Turnpike

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- An accident involving a tractor trailer partially closed down a stretch of the Pennsylvania Turnpike this morning in Allegheny County.

According to Turnpike officials, the tractor trailer was headed westbound when it crashed into a barrier and partially ended up in the eastbound side of the road.

The crash happened near Mile Marker 49.

Officials say the driver of the tractor trailer did not appear to be injured, but the crash scattered debris on the eastbound side of the road.

Crews closed the eastbound side of the roadway at Allegheny Valley completely while one left lane was open on the westbound side.

The closure caused backups during the morning rush hour.
