Duquesne's Martins Abele Declared Academically Ineligible
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan)-- Duquesne men's basketball head coach, Ron Everhart, announced today that 7-foot-1, first-year Radford transfer Martins Abele (Saldus, Latvia/Oak Hill (Va.)/Radford) is academically ineligible and will miss the rest of the 2011-12 season.
Abele, a 290-pound center, sat out the first four games of the regular season for impermissible summer league play. In the six games he's seen playing time, he averaged 0.3 points and 0.0 rebounds.

- The Dukes won their first road game defeating George Mason, 75-64 on Wednesday night. Junior Sean Johnson led the team with 14 points, while sophomore guard T.J. McConnell added 12 points, four assists and nine rebounds. The team shot 50 percent from beyond the arc, a much needed improvement from the 28.8 percent they averaged going into the game.
- T.J. McConnell was one of 65 players nominated for the Bob Cousy Award, given to the top point guard in college basketball.
- Duquesne (7-5) returns home to the A.J. Palumbo Center on Wednesday, December 28th to take on Bowling Green (6-5) at 7PM.
