Report: PSU To Hire Patriots' O'Brien As New Coach

STATE COLLEGE (KDKA) – The search for Joe Paterno's replacement at Penn State appears to be over.

According to a USA Today report, New England Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien appears to be the man for the job.

USA Today's Jonny Saraceno tweeted that only contract details needed to be finalized before O'Brien would be official.

O'Brien's contract with the Patriots is up at the end of the season.

The Patriots enter Week 17 with a 12-3 record and it has been in large part because of their offense.

Currently, the Patriots' offense ranks second in the league in yards and third in points scored.

The Penn State job became vacant when Joe Paterno was fired amid a child sex abuse scandal at the university involving former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky.
