Strip District Club Closes After New Year's Day Shooting

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The Strip District building which housed Club Fever closed its doors Monday.

Two men were shot and wounded inside the club New Year's Day and a 27-year-old Pittsburgh mother, who was at the club the same night, was found shot less than a block away on Penn Avenue near 20th Street.

Shateecha Roach was the mother of two daughters, a 10-year-old and a 7-week-old. The New Year was barely an hour old when Roach was shot.

The owner of the building told KDKA-TV he was boarding it up to secure it and make certain there are no other shootings there.

Ironically, on the second floor of the club where the men were found shot, there's a flyer on a wall that reads, "Always drink and shoot responsibly."

Detectives believe Roach was shot as she was getting into her car; however, a woman who was inside that night, told KDKA-TV that she believes Roach was shot in the club and then someone carried her outside.

Roach's mother, Edna, said her daughter was a good mother and did not hang out in the street. Her daughter went to work and then came home and took care of her two kids.

Pittsburgh Police say so far, no one has been arrested in the shootings and they don't know of a motive.
