Occupy Pittsburgh Protestors Prepared For Cold

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Despite the snow and bone-chilling temperatures many Occupy Pittsburgh demonstrators say they are ready for the long, cold winter.

"I know it's cold, but we will survive," one protestor told KDKA-TV.

The movement has a winterization committee that's been doing "cold weather training."

"We have been prepared for it [and] we're determined to be here for the long haul," Carmon Elliott, a protestor, said.

Organizers have used donated funds to purchase space blankets and special sleeping bags, as well as flooring and heaters.

KDKA's Kym Gable reports about a dozen or so protestors plan to stay overnight every night.

"Getting good rated cold weather sleeping bags, going to bed in some thermals, making sure you have socks and a hat and just, you know, the power of friendship and the warmth and the passion of, you know, being a part of this movement and being jazzed up about it," Bram Reichbaum, a protestor, said.
