Police Investigating Carrick Break-In Attempt

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - Police are trying to figure out who tried to break into a home in Carrick Tuesday morning.

Two men, wearing black masks and hoodies, tried to break into a house in the 300-block of Alries Street around 11 a.m.

The men reportedly fired one shot at a man in the home. No one was hurt and the two men fled the scene on foot.

"It's just crazy, like, I thought it was my husband coming in because he was running errands. The door opened really slow, [because] that's how he opens the door, really slow, and then out of nowhere, they went flying up the steps," Tracy Schmitt said.

Residents said they did recognize one of the men who broke in.

However, they also said nothing like this has ever happened to them before.
