Father Of Injured Beaver Falls Baby To Face Charges

BEAVER FALLS (KDKA) -- Police have issued a warrant for the father of an 8-month-old baby that was found unconscious in Beaver County.

Beaver Falls Police say they want to charge 22-year-old Brian Donavich with reckless endangerment, aggravated assault, simple assault and child endangerment.

Last week, the 8-month-old baby was flown to Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh and placed on life support.

The baby was reportedly in the care of Donavich at their home in Morado Dwellings, a public housing complex, when the infant became injured.

The baby's mother was at work at the time.

Police say the baby suffered from abusive head trauma, commonly known as Shaken Baby Syndrome.

In the criminal complaint, the father told police he was picking up the baby out of the playpen because she was crying and then placed her under his arm when he went to pick up her bottle.

Then he said while bent over, the baby slipped down, causing him to clench his arm around her neck. He said when he realized his arm was around her neck, he dropped her on an inflatable ring on the floor. He says her head never hit the floor.
