Self-Defense Expert Offering Free Classes In North Hills

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- With the news of two rapes in Ross Township within two days, some free upcoming self-defense seminars are expected to draw plenty of interest.

The programs are being offered by Sam Rosenberg, founder of INPAX Protection Training.

Rosenberg told KDKA-TV the programs will give women a sense of confidence in doing their day-to-day activities.

He said the most important thing people have to understand is that predators are usually not random in their selection of victims.

Rosenberg served in the Marines and spent a decade helping people stop would-be attackers.

The classes will happen at the Peebles Fire Company, 1391 Duncan Avenue, Pittsburgh, Pa. 15237 on the following dates:

  • Saturday, January 14
    1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, January 18
    5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, January 21
    1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Advanced registration is required. Call 412-364-2112 or email peeblesfire@verizon.net.

If the classes get too crowded, they will be held at LaRoche College.

Meantime, Ross Township Police questioned a man who voluntarily spoke to them. He matched the description of the suspect and drove the same type of car police were looking for.

Ross Township Sgt. Ben Dripps said the man cooperated and was never arrested.
