Jeannette Police Investigate 9 Arsons

JEANNETTE (KDKA) -- Jeannette police believe they have a serial arsonist on their hands.

There have been numerous fires – all believed to have been intentionally set within the last few months.

The most recent happened this past weekend.

Jeannette police say there have been nine arsons in just four months.

The fires began in early October. All nine have the same MO and happened within just blocks of each other.

Jeannette Police Sergeant Keith Rosky says they're all abandoned homes.

The most recent fire was early Sunday morning at a duplex on South 12th Street.

Just a few days earlier, a house in the 700-block of Chambers Avenue was hit.

Before that, three fires on Division Street just steps apart. All ruled arson.

No one has been injured in any of the fires, but police say it's creating a very dangerous situation.

The first of these recent arsons happened on October 8th at the old Monsour Medical Center on Route 30.

Police aren't certain if this fire is connected to the others, but say it is certainly adding to the total of this costly problem.

Police are following up on numerous leads, but wouldn't go into detail on any suspects.

If you have any information or see something suspicious, they would like to hear from you.
