Mother Charged With DUI In Ross Twp. Crash

ROSS TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- Police have charged a local mother with DUI after a one-car accident last week.

Catherine Ankney, 28, of Brookline, flipped her car on Nelson Run Road in Ross Township. Her infant son was in the car during the crash.

"As the car left the roadway, it went through the stone wall and then traveled airborne before it hit a telephone pole then eventually landed on its roof," Ross Police Det. Brian Kohlhepp said.

Ankney and her son were not seriously injured.

"She had a blood alcohol content of a .209 at the time of the accident," Kohlhepp said. "There [were] also opiates found in her blood system."

She has been cited for endangering the welfare of children, careless driving, and seatbelt violations.
