Ward Responds To NFL Network Report

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Hines Ward and his representatives were basically blindsided by an NFL Network report Friday night that stated the Pittsburgh Steelers were planning to release the 15-year veteran.

Ward's camp had neither heard of the report until last night nor had they heard from the Steelers.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Ed Bouchette also reported Saturday that there has been nothing decided yet in regard to Ward's future with the team, according to Steelers sources.

Ward took to Facebook Saturday to repeat his desire to be back with the Steelers next season.

He wrote: "I don't normally like to respond to rumors, but as I've said all along, I want to finish my career with the Pittsburgh Steelers. And, as I've already told the organization, I am willing to work with them to restructure my contract to make sure this happens."

Meanwhile, Omar Khan will reportedly remain with the Steelers.

The team's salary cap guru and contract negotiator was a candidate to become the general manager of the St. Louis Rams, but several outlets reported Saturday that Khan has pulled his name from consideration.
