Car Drives Over Hillside In Robinson Township

ROBINSON TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – Crews worked to rescue an elderly driver who went over an embankment in Robinson Township Monday morning.

The woman collided with another car behind the Mall at Robinson, lost control and went over the hill following a head-on collision just before Noon Monday.

"The elderly lady was making a left turn from Montour Run onto Beaver Grade Road and she failed to yield to an oncoming car," Robinson Township Police Chief Dale Vietmeier said.

KDKA's Mary Robb Jackson reports 81-year-old Mary Sirera, of Coraopolis, is listed in good condition at UPMC Mercy Hospital. She missed a creek by five-feet.

It took about a half an hour to free her from the wreckage and bring her back up to the road in a Stokes basket.

"Our firemen are well-trained and I think they do a great job and they did a great job today," Vietmeier said.
