Chase, Crash Leaves 1 Woman Dead In Penn Hills

PENN HILLS (KDKA) -- Police pursuits are controversial because bad things can happen to innocent victims and drivers; this may have occured this past weekend.

25-year-old Kayla Johnson-Ukeyne died when the Ford she was driving in was struck by an SUV traveling at a high rate of speed while being pursued by Penn Hills Police.

Police are not saying why they were pursuing the SUV, but it is our understanding that the SUV was driving irratically, passing on the left-hand side, and doing a number of other things that had Police concerned.

The female driver of the SUV as well as the passenger are believed to be injured.

There are charges expected against the driver, however, those charges have not yet been filed. Meanwhile, Allegheny County Homicide Detectives are on the case.
