Bucs: Pirates To Sign McCutchen To Contract Extension

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) — The Pittsburgh Pirates and center fielder Andrew McCutchen have reportedly come to terms on a six-year, $51.5-million contract extension.

McCutchen will be signed through the 2017 season with a club option for 2018 worth $14.75 million.

This news comes from a report early Monday morning by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Read the full report here.

The new contract buys out McCutchen's arbitration years and two years of free agency. He would have been eligible for arbitration after the 2012 season.

McCutchen has a career average of .276 and a .365 on-base percentage.
