Oakland Schools Lift Lockdown Orders

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Schools in Oakland lifted their lockdowns following a deadly shooting at Western Psych.

The University of Pittsburgh Campus is no longer on lockdown. Students have been told to avoid O'Hara and DeSoto streets.

Central Catholic and Oakland Catholic have both released their students for the day.

One Pittsburgh Public School – Pittsburgh Science and Technology Academy – allowed their students to go home.

The school educates students in grades 6-12. It also has a pre-K program.

Parents received a phone call through a message system that said they would not be allowed to pick up their children.

Carlow University – located blocks away from the shooting – is no longer on lockdown. While the university students are on spring break, the Carlow Campus School was still in session.

Worried parents showed up to pick up their children were not immediately allowed inside.
