Funeral Held For Western Psych Shooting Victim

DELMONT (KDKA) – The funeral for a young man who was killed during a shooting at Western Psych last week was held Tuesday morning.

Family, friends, co-workers and even patients are expected to attend the funeral for 25-year-old Michael Schaab.

The service began at 11 a.m. at Saint John Baptist de la Salle Church in Delmont.

According to police, 30-year-old John Shick walked into Western Psych and opened fire last Thursday. Shick was then shot and killed by police.

At least 400 people came to the Bash-Nied funeral home in Delmont Sunday night and even more were expected Monday.

Schaab had recently proposed to his girlfriend and the family was expecting to begin the planning process for the wedding this past weekend.

Instead, those who knew him are now remembering a young man whose life was cut short in a senseless act of violence.

At the time of the shooting on Thursday, Schaab was headed back to his office with lunch in hand after making a down payment on grad school.
