New iPad Creating Buzz At Apple Store In Shadyside

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- It's the day many have been waiting for, and some even spent all night in line waiting for it.

The new Apple iPad went on sale this morning at 8 a.m. and customers were waiting with baited breath, or perhaps, nimble fingers in the cool temperatures overnight.

It may not have created a shopping frenzy in this area; there were no really long lines, but the thought of the Apple iPad did create some excitement among a small group outside the Apple store at 2 a.m. in Shadyside.

"I am not waiting another month," said Anthony Laurelli, who was waiting for the new iPad. "If I didn't come today, I would have to wait another month."

It may be the biggest thing since bubble gum; well, at least until a newer model becomes available to outshine this one.

"The new one is going to have a better resolution for the screen; so, it's going to be a lot more crisp images, a lot clearer for gaming and taking pictures, also a better camera and also a faster processor," said Justin Bryan, the assistant manager at the AT&T store.

There are more than 300 Apple stores worldwide, but it's not the only place you can buy the new iPad.

There is Radio Shack, Target, Verizon, Sam's Club, Best Buy and at AT&T. No matter where you go, the price is the same, $499 for the WiFi only, $629 for the 4G data plan.

So what happens with the iPad 2?

"All of the previous iPad 2s, the models have dropped a hundred dollars each," said Bryan.

You can order the new iPad online, but managers recommend you come by the store first as they may have it in stock, but they warn that they will go quickly.
