Leads Sought In Churchill Hit-And-Run Accident

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The family of a teenager who was injured in a hit-and-run accident in Churchill is speaking out.

Nakesha West was at a Sweet 16 birthday party at the Blackridge Civic Association more than a week ago when a fight broke out.

Six shots were fired just before midnight. No one was shot.

More than 100 party guests fled. Nakesha was run over by a dark sedan with tinted windows in the parking lot.

"And I fell to the ground and it ran over my leg," she said.

No one came to help her initially.

"Actually, people were blowing their horn for her to get off the street – she's laying their," Harold West, her father, said.

The photographer at the party heard her screaming, went over to her and called her parents.

Trauma and plastic surgeons at Children's Hospital worked to rebuild her right leg through five operations. It's held together by pins and rods.

"To just hit our child and to just leave her in the street, it's not okay, it's not okay," Darlene West said.

They are all hoping anyone who witnessed the hit-and-run will come forward.
