Steamed Crawdads Recipe

  • 2- 1LB. packages of frozen fully cooked & cleaned crawdads
  • 4 cups of water
  • 4 oz. beer
  • 4 oz. wine (beer and wine can be substituted with orange juice and apple cider)
  • 3-4 sprigs of fresh dill
  • 1 orange-quartered
  • 1 lemon- quartered
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 1/4 teaspoon of ground or fresh ginger


  • 1 stick of butter- melted in microwave
  • squirt of lemon juice, herbs of choice, anything with garlic is good!
  • 1/2 cup zesty cocktail sauce


  • Thaw crawdads prior to steaming by running under warm water
  • In a steamer pot, combine all ingredients except crawdads and toppings
  • Add to bottom of steamer, bring to boil and cook for 2 minutes
  • Place steaming insert inside pot, add crawdads and steam for 2 minutes
  • Serve with zesty cocktail sauce and hot melted lemon butter! Yum!
