Open Casting Calls In Braddock For New Christian Bale Film

BRADDOCK (KDKA) – So you want to be in pictures? Well, if you're in Braddock, it's not that farfetched. In fact, right now, all you have to do is show up and take a number because there are open casting calls going on.

Thursday, a couple hundred people showed up for the casting call for the upcoming movie "Out of the Furnace," set to begin shooting April 13.

Pittsburghers expressed their excitement at the prospect of seeing themselves on the big screen.

"Any type of role, anything they need me to do I'm available for, just to get on the screen," said Jeremy Pugh of Wilkinsburg.

Vince Babeo of Braddock said he wants to play on old geezer.

"Out of the Furnace" is described as a thriller and will use an unannounced number of extras. But those selected will be working with Christian Bale, Zoe Saldana and Casey Affleck. Not all of those coming out for the open auditions have ever been in a movie before - but some have.

"I was in the Heinz Field scene for Batman whenever it was here," said Justin Reed of Braddock.

More open casting will take place in Braddock on Saturday at the Community Center from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
