Man Surrenders After Barricading Self In Lawrenceville Home

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The SWAT team was sent to Lawrenceville Saturday afternoon after a man barricaded himself inside of a home.

Officials say the man's family called 911 around 4:30 p.m. saying they were worried about him. He has been identified by authorities as 42-year-old Gary Wright.

He had locked himself inside a home in the 5200-block of Duncan Street.

It took hours to get him to surrender.

"Approximately an hour and a half into this situation, we then had to deploy OC spray and gas, and our noise flash diversionary devices," said Commander RaShall Brackney, of the Pittsburgh Police. "We then received a call from the suspect a half an hour after the first deployment of gas indicating that he wanted to talk and he wanted to surrender."

So far, no charges have been filed.
