Giant Eagle Market District Begins Curbside Express Service

ROBINSON TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – Want to stock up on your groceries without setting foot in a store?

Giant Eagle launched its new personal shopping service, Curbside Express, Monday at its Market District store in Robinson.

"When you think about the busy mom who might have kids in the car or if it's inclement weather, it's certainly a nice convenience to have your groceries delivered right out to your car without having to leave your vehicle," Rob Borella, Giant Eagle's senior director of marketing, said. "And we're going to test this service, get customer feedback and continue to refine it."

After you select your items online, an associate gathers the goods in-store. Then they load your bags into your vehicle when you pull up.

"I think this is awesome," Sara Diamond, a Curbside Express shopper, said. "I've been waiting for somebody to do something like this. I have two children and this is I think every mother's dream come true."

Giant Eagle will study and tweak the pilot program before rolling it out to other locations.
