1 Rescued In North Huntingdon Trench Collapse

NORTH HUNTINGDON (KDKA) -- A PennDOT worker who became trapped following a trench collapsed at a construction site in Westmoreland County has been freed.

NewsChopper 2 was over the scene this morning along Route 30 in North Huntingdon.

Officials say the PennDOT crew was performing what is being called an exploratory dig.

Officials say other workers used shovels and buckets to dig the man out of the trench who was trapped up to his neck.

He was eventually able to climb out on his own, and was taken to Forbes Regional Hospital to be checked over.
