Teen Testifies Against Former Babysitter In Sex Abuse Case

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A 13-year-old girl testified in court Tuesday that her babysitter sexually molested her back in the summer of 2004 for nearly two months.

The accused, 63-year-old Thomas Cottrill, is charged with several offenses, including indecent assault and exposure and endangering the welfare of children.

KDKA's Brenda Waters spoke with Cottrill's attorney, Stanley Greenfield, who says his client vigorously denies all of the charges.

The girl says she waited eight years to tell someone because she was afraid and Cottrill told her not to.

Cottrill was a family friend and was the girl's babysitter for three months. Half of that time, she claims, he touched her inappropriately.

Cottrill most recently worked at his sister's daycare center, Nancy Podrat Daycare, in Squirrel Hill.
