NEW CASTLE (KDKA) – A duplex in Lawrence County was destroyed by fire Saturday night.

According to officials at the scene, the fire broke out at a duplex in the 1500-block of Pennsylvania Avenue around 11:30 p.m.

When firefighters arrived, a large amount of smoke was billowing out from the second story of the building.

No one is believed to have been inside the building when the fire broke out and it took firefighters about an hour to bring it under control

Firefighters were also able to prevent the fire from spreading to another home next door.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
