Another Arrest Made In Officer Kotecki Shooting

GREENSBURG (KDKA) - Another arrest has been made in the shooting death of a Westmoreland County police officer.

Police have now arrested James Ameris, who is accused of threatening one of the men charged with the illegal sale or transfer of the gun, which killed Lower Burrell Police Officer Derek Kotecki.

In March Ameris was charged in connection with the gun that fugitive 33-year-old Charles Post used to shoot Kotecki in a restaurant parking lot.

A Westmoreland County judge has revoked his bond.

Previously, the Westmoreland County District Attorney's office filed charges of hindering apprehension and criminal conspiracy against Chad Post, Amanda Christyn Walters and Nicole Martha Walters.

They allegedly helped Post evade authorities because he was wanted for charges including, aggravated assault and criminal attempt to commit homicide after allegedly firing about a dozen shots at his former boss.

In addition to Ameris, three others -  Robert Zentner, Meryl Smith and Nevin Lawson were also facing charges related to the .40 caliber gun used in the shooting.
