INDIANA, Pa. (KDKA) — State police in Indiana County say a student teacher from Indiana University of Pennsylvania who was assigned to Derry Area High School is now facing sexual assault charges.

Authorities say 22-year-old Timothy Lewis, of Latrobe, has been arraigned on charges of institutional sexual assault and corruption of minors.

According to state police, Lewis is accused of engaging in a sexual relationship last month with a 17-year-old girl who is a student at the high school.

State police say the two met in the class Lewis was assigned to for student teaching.

Lewis has been released on $25,000 unsecured bond.
