Fine Wine And Good Spirits App Released

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Need to find the closest state store that has your favorite wine?

There's an app for that.

And that's not all a new iPhone app developed by the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board can do.

The Fine Wine and Good Spirits App is free and allows you to find the stores nearest to you.

It also lists the alcohol that's on sale and maps out which stores have those items in stock.

If you go to a restaurant and order a wine that you like, you can use the app to scan the bar code on the bottle and find out if it's available in Pennsylvania and how much it costs. Then you can use the app to find the stores closest to you that carry it.

The app also allows you to type in a certain alcohol that you're looking for to learn where it's carried and what it will cost you.

Finally, much like the PLCB's website, it allows you to buy alcohol and have it delivered to your home.

The app actually debuted in January.

A spokesperson says they're working on a version of it for Android phones.

She also says it cost the PLCB $100,000 to develop the app.
