Car Crashes Into Beaver Co. VA Clinic

CENTER TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – The VA clinic in Center Township, Beaver County, is closed after a car crashed into the reception area.

The building is in a shopping plaza on Wagner Road, not far from the Beaver Valley Mall.

A man was injured when he was hit by the car. He was flown to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. The driver suffered neck injuries.

"I was coming out of the restaurant … and the next thing I know I turned just a little bit, a car was coming through, jumped to go through," Wendy Mineard, an eyewitness, said. "He was trying to put the brake on but it didn't stop."

Air Force Sgt. Christian Easley works next door at an armed forces recruitment center. He was moved to help in part because those who had served were in trouble.

"There [were] four individuals. One man was badly injured, responded to him to get him up and to get him moved away," he said. "There was another individual in the car. I [saw] that he had accidentally hit the accelerator instead of brake."

"There was another lady – she had chairs on top of her, we took them off and she had a small knee injury and there was another individual they took in the back. They gave him required oxygen."

Police saw no skid marks, though some thought the driver may have hit the gas instead of the brakes.

"It very well may be medically related," Center Township Police Chief Barry Kramer said. "His age specifically – I don't know."

The VA Primary Care Center will remain closed likely through Wednesday.
