Ambridge Woman Raped At Assisted Living Facility

AMBRIDGE (KDKA) – A police chief wants answers after the brutal rape of a 71-year-old woman at a local assisted living facility.

Ambridge Police Chief James Mann says the suspect, 51-year-old Marvin Lee Brown, of Beaver Falls, has a criminal background that includes sex charges.

Brown was also a resident at the Maplewood Personal Care Home in Ambridge.

Mann says Brown followed the woman into a bathroom at the facility early this morning, forced her to the ground and raped her.

The alleged victim told investigators she tried to scream for help, but Brown put his hand over her mouth.

KDKA asked Chief Mann why Brown was living at the facility.

"I have no idea," he said. "We're going to have to look into that… if they do a background on these people. It's very upsetting. We feel very bad for the victim and the family that this even happened to her."

Brown was arraigned this morning. He's in the Beaver County Jail.

A woman who answered the phone at the facility Wednesday night said she couldn't comment.
