Father Of OD Victim Helps Catch Son's Drug Dealers

MOON TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – A Moon Township man lost his 25-year-old son to a heroin overdose, but he did not lose his fight to get his son's alleged drugs dealers arrested.

He was able to do this with the victim's cell phone.

This happened last month when the father found his son dead inside the Motel 6 in Moon Twp.

The dad, who police did not want interviewed on camera, noticed his son's phone had several text messages from the alleged dealers.

Police decided to use the victim's phone to their advantage. Thinking they were talking to the victim, police say 22-year-old Marcus Jones of the West End and 23-year-old Anderson Marshall of Penn Hills showed up at the hotel to deliver heroin.

They were arrested at the Motel 6. Neither was charged with homicide – only drug charges. Both made bail.

Now Moon Township police are working with the DA to get Jones and Marshall convicted of murder with a revised law called "Drug Delivery Resulting In Death."
