Charges Dropped Against Teen In McKees Rocks Shooting

MCKEES ROCKS (KDKA) -- Allegheny County Police have withdrawn charges against a teenager accused of shooting a 19-year-old college student in McKees Rocks.

Marshawn Ptomey was shot in the 300-block of Russellwood Avenue around 8:20 p.m. Thursday.

On Friday, police dropped charges against a 16-year-old. According to investigators, the teenager was there when the shooting happened, but they determined he did not pull the trigger.

Allegheny County Police are instead filing charges of attempted homicide, aggravated assault, tampering with evidence and firearms violations against 17-year-old Destiny Brown from the Coraopolis area.

Investigators say Ptomey, who was back from college on summer break, was taking a walk with some friends when the confrontation happened.

Police have also filed drug charges against 19-year-old Dino Berardi who is also from Coraopolis.
