Sheetz Manager Injured During Armed Robbery

UNIONTOWN (KDKA) – Police are investigating after an armed robbery at a Sheetz in Fayette County Monday morning.

This happened around 12:30 a.m. Monday at the Sheetz on Route 40 outside of Uniontown.

Surveillance photos show the suspect, a white male, as he storms through the back door and goes straight for a 27-year-old woman who was handling money near a safe in the back.

"She was in the office, she was counting out money making change," State Trooper Anthony Vito said. "He slipped in behind her unnoticed and hit her in back of head with handgun."

Photos show the suspect hitting the woman repeatedly before leaving and grabbing money that was on a nearby table.

"She tried to fend him off and I believe she ended up with a broken finger in addition to the head injury that she suffered," Trooper Vito said.

The clerk was taken by medical helicopter to Ruby Memorial.

The suspect slipped out the back door the same way he came. He pushed right past a woman who was coming out of the restroom and was then seen again as he makes his way past the dumpster out back.

If you recognize the man in the surveillance photo or if you were a witness and think you have information that can help police to identify the suspect, you should contact the Uniontown barracks.
