Allegheny County Marbles Tournament Kicks Off At Courthouse

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The annual Allegheny County Marbles Tournament begins today at the Allegheny County Courthouse courtyard in Downtown Pittsburgh.

Organizers say 125 marble players, also called "mibsters," are set to take part in the tournament that runs through June 2. The competitors are 14-years-old and younger.

They qualify by competing in local matches that started on March 26.

The winners of the Allegheny County Marbles Tournament will go on to compete in the 89th National Marbles Championship in Wildwood, New Jersey, from June 17 through 22.

According to organizers, the Allegheny County marbles program has produced a number of national champions, including last year's winners.
