Donald Trump May Sue Miss Pa. Over Resignation

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Donald Trump is now threatening to sue Miss Pennsylvania after she said she was giving up her crown, claiming the contest is rigged.

Sheena Monnin said another contestant saw a list titled, "top five," hours before the show was broadcast and those five contestants turned out to be the actual top five in the pageant.

Pageant officials said Monnin's allegations are false.

They said Monnin told them she was resigning because of the Miss Universe policy that allows transgendered contestants.

Trump, who runs the Miss USA Pageant, called Monnin's claims that the pageant was fixed, "totally ridiculous."

He also said she's angry about losing.

Miss Pennsylvania 2010 Gina Cerilli said she learned of the scandal while flying home from the pageant and said there's no way it's fixed or fake.

She made it to the top 15 when she competed and has seen firsthand what goes on behind the scenes.

"It's hard to believe that if there was a list that it would be backstage for the contestants to find," Cerilli said.

Cerilli also questions the timing of Monnin's announcement.

Susan Koeppen: "Is this a case of sour grapes?"

"Quitting the morning after the Miss USA contest after you don't win? I would have to say yes, but then again I'm not Sheena, I don't know," she said. "But in my personal opinion, just looking at it from an outside view? Yes."
