3-Year-Old Walks Out Of Bethel Park KinderCare

BETHEL PARK (KDKA) – A local woman says her 3-year-old daughter wandered out of a local daycare and the staff didn't notice she was missing.

The incident happened at the KinderCare Learning Center in Bethel Park.

Jenna Trout says her daughter, Gianna, was able to walk through a door undetected and was fortunately contained to a fenced in area. Her mother can't believe it happened.

"There's no buzzers, beepers or bells to even let you know that the door opened," she said.

Trout says no one at KinderCare noticed Gianna was gone.

"Someone else found my child outside of the playground and notified KinderCare, so the teacher didn't even realize still that my daughter was missing," she said.

KinderCare Director Lorraine Zelaski asked KDKA-TV's Paul Martino to leave and referred him to the corporate office in Portland.

A spokeswoman calls the situation unacceptable and says they've launched an internal investigation and they say the teacher involved no longer works for KinderCare.

KinderCare has also reported the incident to the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare.
