Humane Society's North Side Facility Overrun With Dogs

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- There is no room at the inn at the Western Pennsylvania Humane Society.

The North Side facility is overrun with dogs and the agency needs your help.

"We have a lot of dogs, 67 dogs came in to the Western Pa. Humane Society in the last five days," said spokesperson Gretchen Feiser. "We need the community's help. We want to get these dogs into homes."

The dogs are coming in from all over the City of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County and surrounding counties. They are coming primarily from people who can't care for them any longer.

There are hundreds of dogs at the facility and they are being housed in offices, under desks, in bathrooms and one poor pup is in an area for cats.

There are all kinds of dogs that need homes, purebreds, mixed breeds, big, small and shapes and colors.

If you can't adopt or foster, the Humane Society is accepting donations to help feed and house them.

So, if you have room in your home and heart for the four-legged variety, give the Western Pennsylvania Humane Society a call at 412-321-4625.
