Black Bear Wanders In Natrona Heights Neighborhood

NATRONA HEIGHTS (KDKA) -- There was a bear sighting in Natrona Heights.

An adult bear weighing at least 300 pounds wandered into Tom and Sharon Bowser's yard on Burtner Road.

"Put it this way – I'm not going to try to pet him," Tom said.

Their bird feeder was empty, so it headed next door.

After eating some seeds and taking a small nap, the bear went back into the woods.

The Bowsers say this is the second bear in a year to wander into their yard.

"It makes me edgy to be out here and to maybe have your back to it, you know, and it come up behind you," Sharon said.

The Pennsylvania Game Commission says if you live in a bear-prone community, restrict bird feeding to between November and March and use mixtures that are not attractive to bears.
