Fire Sends Crews To Meat Packing Plant In Arnold

ARNOLD (KDKA) -- A fire sent crews to a meat packing plant in Westmoreland County this afternoon.

The fire broke out around noon at the Farmland Foods plant on Rivers Edge Road in Arnold.

According to initial reports, there were some people on the roof when the fire started, but emergency officials say they were all able to escape to safety.

No injuries were reported.

There is no word on what sparked the fire.

Emergency officials say two firefighters had to be taken from the scene for medical treatment. One firefighter who was on the roof is being treated for heat stroke, and the other, who was ground, suffered some numbness in his arm.
