Home Damaged By Fire In Munhall

MUNHALL (KDKA) -- A fire caused significant damage to a home in Munhall Sunday.

Officials say the family wasn't home when the fire broke out, but returned to find smoke pouring from the residence.

The home is located in the 2400-block of Perry Street.

Firefighters quickly brought the fire under control, but there was significant damage.

"The second floor is severely damaged," said Deputy Chief Ed Pletsch, of the Munhall Bureau of Fire. "The first floor has some damage in the back - in the kitchen area - and heavy smoke and water damage throughout the structure."

One firefighter was taken to the hospital to be treated for a burn to his hand.

There's no word on what sparked the fire.
