Child Revived At Sandcastle

WEST HOMESTEAD (KDKA) -- A crowded pool of park-goers watched in horror as a little girl - lifeless and blue – was pulled from the water at Sandcastle Water Park late this afternoon.

The little girl, about three or four years old, was revived by a lifeguard and conscious when brought to Children's Hospital.

"Female lifeguard came on the scene and she just took total control, but it took a while," a witness said. "She did mouth-to-mouth, she was pumping on her chest and then they got the bag out and was pumping air into her and it took a while to bring her back. She came to and was crying."

Another witness, Kevin Gallick, says it was a chaotic scene.

"I seen everybody there and I seen all the lifeguards – they were doing everything from what I could see that they were supposed to be doing and the paramedics were rushing down, they were flying down," he said.

A spokesperson for the park says the girl may have suffered a seizure before she went underwater.

The girl's name and her condition have not been made public.
