New Castle Couple Ordered To Stand Trial On Sexual Assault Charges

NEW CASTLE (KDKA) -- A Lawrence County couple was ordered Thursday to stand trial on charges in connection with the sexual assault of two children.

On the stand Thursday, a 7-year-old boy testified about what he called "perverted games" that involved oral, genital contact.

"I hope they go to prison for the rest of their life," said the alleged victims' mother. "For real I do, for what they did to my kids, I hope they do. I hope they never see daylight again."

Larry and Michelle Cragle are accused of assaulting the children. The boy's 14-year-old sister also testified about the alleged assaults.

However, her testimony was complicated by the fact that she has also been charged with allegedly molesting her brother.

"The testimony was so questionable and so varied," said David Acker, Michelle Cragle's attorney. "And it varied from what had been said before, and when the children were initially interviewed about being abused by their sister, they make no mention about Michelle or Larry."

Regardless, the Cragles were taken back to jail under $25,000 bond.

Also, Larry Cragle was held on additional charges, accused in the sexual assault of another 14-year-old girl.

Some of the charges were dropped though. The couple was also accused of taking nude photos of the children. No evidence was presented Thursday about the alleged photos. It was those charges that were dropped.
